Description: 1898 Dec 2, soldier's letter from a private with the 1st Hampshire Regiment at Landikotal, Khyber Pass during the Second Afghan War to a stoker on the 'H.M.S. Handy, Torpedo Boat Destroyer, Wei-Hai-Wei, China' via Hong Kong (1899 Jan1) and Chefoo (1898 Jan 15) bearing India 1a (paying the soldier's rate), cancelled by 'Landikotal' c.d.s. and Wei-Hai-Wei 2nd issue 2c red, cancelled by 'C&Co./WHW' double-ring chop to pay for the courier service to its destination, letter endorsed and countersigned by the Commanding Officer /
