1878 THIN PAPER, STAMPS PRINTED 2 1/2mm APART INCOMING MAIL from Great Britain to Shanghai Description: 1880 Apr 19, envelope from Great Britain to China, franked with Great Britain 2 1/2d horizontal pair, tied by 'Lurgan Mar 4' duplex of dispatch, on arrival in China a vertical pair of the 1878 3ca brown-red has been affixed, cancelled and tied by Customs SHANGHAI c.d.s. of Apr 19, then carried to Peking; Hong Kong transit backstamp of Apr 18 and an endorsement indicating arrival in Peking on Apr 25 / Note: Double rate of 6 candarins postage due covering the internal rate for letters within China.
