Taiwan to Amoy

Description: 1895 Aug 16, large part of an envelope front from Taiwan, addressed to Mr. Wong Kam Ming, I. M. Customs, Amoy, franked with imperforated 30c blue-green tissue paper which is tied by a "Customs Takow" c.d.s. in red /
Condition: The adhesive missing the upper left corner, but this may be contemporary, and some obvious envelope defects; nonetheless of good appearance.
Note: Believed to be the first day of issue, thus making this the earliest known use of the "Black Flag" Republic issues. Illustrated in Lee, page 171. S.G. R1-3.
